The Costa Blanca is well known as one of Spain’s most sought after Mediterranean destinations. It boasts pristine beaches as well as immaculate golf courses. The Costa Blanca features beautiful weather year round and offers numerous historical towns and villages. Above all, the golf facilities on the Costa Blanca are among the best in the world.

If you are planning a golf holiday in the Costa Blanca, here are five fabulous golf courses that you should try and play while you are there;

The creator, Seve Ballesteros, designed Alicante with every type of golfer in mind. However, you do need to exercise caution during your game as there are so many bunkers and waters hazards to be avoided.

This course sports luxurious and wide fairways and runs at a par 72. It was opened for business in 1998. This is a highly sought after course as it is located near the beach and bordered by attractive housing developments. You don’t have to worry about the shots that go “off course” so to speak as the fairways and greens are more than generous in negotiation room. Take advantage of a pre-game warm up at the driving range, chipping and putting greens, and practice bunker. You can always hit the gym or sauna after the game, and then finish up at the restaurant or snack bar to complete the perfect day.

The Alenda course, which has 18 holes and is a Par 72, was developed by Roland Favrat. This course will appeal to novice and experts alike. While some of the greens are a bit of a challenge due to their slopes, a golfer who concentrates hard can usually cover the course close to par because of the generous and wide fairways. You can easily rent buggies, clubs, and trolleys, as well as take advantage of the driving range and practice bunker areas. There are also putting and chipping greens, as well as a restaurant, snack shop and ‘19th hole’.

Visit this course and you’ll be amazed by the picturesque mountain views and the 20,000 plus olive, pine and carob trees. It is situated between Alicante and La Manga, and is an 18-hole, Par 72 championship course. Adding to the challenge of the course are six strategically placed lakes. A driving range, practice putting green, pitching green, buggy and trolley rentals, and golf tuition are all available on-site. The clubhouse features a bar/restaurant and saunas are included in the changing rooms.

Real Campoamor
This is a course that both the amateur and seasoned professional can enjoy. It’s a 6,203-meter, Par 72 course with its long, open fairways and pine forest setting. Some of the biggest challenges are the sloping greens and fairways, but there is a also nice variety of par 3, 4, and 5’s. A huge bonus is the tremendous view of the coast. It is possible to get clubs and buggies, and golf instruction is available. You can also take advantage of the putting green and driving range to practice your skills, and then satisfy your hunger at the cafeteria, bar, or restaurant.

El Saler
Golf World has rated El Saler as Europe’s second-best course due mainly to its fantastic fairways and greens. This course, which has hosted many Spanish Opens, should be top of your play list as it is in a truly wonderful setting. You will enjoy the atmosphere provided by the groves of pines, rolling dunes, and coastal setting.

Bunkers are numerous so you will need your best shots here. The sixth hole is a par four and it presents a special challenge as it doglegs to the left making it especially difficult to reach the green within two. The usual hire options are available and the clubhouse provides excellent dining facilities.

One of the great things about playing golf on the Costa Blanca is that it can be enjoyed all year around thanks to the wonderful dry and sunny climate. Any of these courses will make your golfing expedition memorable so make sure that you book your Costa Blanca tee times well in advance of your trip to avoid disappointment.
